LIMERICK’S Claire O’Riordan will be hoping for her first appearance in the Women’s World Cup as Ireland face Canada in their second group game.
Claire was named on the bench against Australia but did not make an appearance in the match.
Despite this Claire was in high spirits ‘down under’ supporting the Limerick hurlers as they completed the historic four-in-a-row victory.
O’Riordan began her sporting career at Newcastle West Camogie while also playing ladies GAA for Monagea.
Her love for soccer grew through the Newcastle West Rovers club where she grew up playing with the boys teams.
The Irish squad suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat to tournament co-hosts, Australia in their first game and now face stiff competition in the Olympic Champions.
Ireland are currently bottom of Group B and need to win against Canada to progress further in the competition.
Canada faced Nigeria in their opening game which ended in a nil all draw.
The game will take place tomorrow, Wednesday at 1pm Irish Time and will be shown live on RTÉ 2.
