Limerick woman in Rep of Ireland women's squad for two USA fixtures

Limerick woman Claire O'Riordan is in the Rep of Ireland women's squad for two international fixtures against the USA

A LIMERICK woman has been included in the Republic of Ireland women's senior squad continuing their preparations for FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 with two international friendly games against World No 1 side, the United States.

The Girls in Green will firstly be in action on Saturday next, April 8 in Austin, Texas before facing the same opponent again on Tuesday, April 11 in St. Louis, Missouri - both games being broadcast live on RTÉ2.

Newcastle West woman Claire O'Riordan has been named in Ireland manager Vera Pauw's 27-player squad for the camp.

The 28-year-old O'Riordan joined Scottish giants Celtic FC Women from German side Duisburg last summer.

The Limerick woman made her Rep of Ireland debut against Hungary in March 2016 and has won 17 caps to date.

Th former Newcastle West AFC star is a sporting all-rounder having played camogie and Ladies Gaelic football for Limerick - she played camogie with Newcastle West and Ladies Football with Monagea before joining up with Wexford Youths soccer side while in college in IT Carlow.

She converted to centre back following her move to Germany with Duisburg in 2018 and has been a regular in Republic of Ireland women's senior squads.
 
The squad gets today, Sunday, April 2, ahead of flying to the United States on tomorrow Monday to take in the two games in Texas and Missouri.
