THREE Limerick sides will be involved in an attractive double header of Pinergy Munster Schools Senior Cup ties at Thomond Park on Tuesday next.
During the first half of this season, schools from throughout the province played in a round-robin format in two groups in both competitions to determine their seeding for the knockout stages which began this month.
Two Limerick sides, Castletroy College and Glenstal Abbey, have already made their exit from the Munster Schools Senior Cup in recent weeks.
The remaining three Limerick sides in contention will be in action at Thomond Park on Tuesday.
In the opening fixture, St Munchin's College take on Ardscoil Ris in a mouth-watering Limerick derby at 1pm.
The winners' of the St Munchin's College v Ardscoil Ris fixture will progress directly to the semi-finals of the Munster Schools Senior Cup. All is not lost for the loser, however, who will advance to the quarter-finals.
These teams get the benefit of a 'second chance' having finished either first or second in their pool in the round robin phase of the competition played before Christmas.
The second part of the double header will see Munster Schools Senior Cup holders Crescent College Comprehensive lock horns with Bandon Grammar School at 3pm.
The winner of this game will progress to the quarter-final of the Munster Schools Senior Cup, while the loser of this game will exit the competition.
