Newcastle West rugby squad will face Clogher Valley in an All-Ireland Junior Cup semi-final in Cullinagh this Saturday
LIMERICK side Newcastle West face reigning Energia Junior Cup champions Clogher Valley at Cullinagh on this Saturday, January 7, 2pm, in their re-arranged All-Ireland Junior Cup semi-final fixture.
The game had originally been due to take place last month, but was postponed due to adverse weather conditions.
Munster Junior League champions Newcastle West stunned Ballyclare, last season’s runners-up, when scoring a thrilling 26-24 All-Ireland Junior Cup quarter-final win at Cloughan last month.
Hooker Eoin O’Halloran helped himself to a brace of tries for the West Limerick side. Newcastle West lost out to Clogher in last season's All-Ireland Junior Cup at the Cran.
However, this time the Limerick men will be at home.
The second semi-final of this season's All-Ireland Junior Cup will see Enniskillen host Monkstown at Mullaghmeen on Saturday afternoon.
Provincial champions Newcastle West edged out Connemara 15-11, thanks to tries from Sean Murphy and Alan O’Riordan, in the opening round of this season's All-Ireland Junior Cup.
Newcastle West scored an historic Munster Junior League and Cup double last season.
The final of this season’s Energia Junior Cup has been pencilled in for three weeks time, Saturday, January 28, with the venue to be confirmed.
