A LANDMARK residential and office building in the heart of Limerick’s Georgian Quarter has sold.

Number three Pery Square, located near that street’s junction with Barrington Street, had an asking price of €895,000.

The terraced three-bay, four-storey over basement Georgian house was built between 1835 and 1838.

At that time, it was constructed using the tontine system.

Sherry FitzGerald, which brought the property to market, wrote that it “exudes timeless elegance and historical charm”.

The selling agents added that it offers a “unique blend” of residential and office space spanning 543 square metres.

“Pery Square is an esteemed Georgian terrace located in the Newtown Pery area, renowned for its meticulously preserved 18th and 19th-century Georgian architectural style.

“This distinguished address overlooks the serene People's Park and enjoys proximity to all of Limerick city's amenities and transport links, providing an unparalleled urban living and working experience,” Sherry FitzGerald added in its marketing.

The company stated that the building is “not just a property”.

“It’s a testament to the city’s illustrious past and a gateway to its vibrant future,” the firm’s marketing adds.

The building features many period features including cornicing, which is a horizontal decorative moulding that crowns a building or furniture element.

Original fireplaces are also featured, with Sherry FitzGerald saying the “bright rooms and high ceilings amplify the sense of space and light throughout the property.”

As things stand, the building is laid out to provide office space across four floors, with the basement housing a one-bedroom apartment with its own entrance.

A coach house is at the rear of the property, where secure private car parking for up to six cars is available.

It’s not known who the new owner of the building is, or indeed the sum which was paid, at this time.
