All-Ireland hurling winner Richie English and bride Kathleen Fitzgibbon
THE spotlight shifts from the pitch to the aisle as a Limerick sporting couple prepare to celebrate their wedding day.
All-Ireland hurling winner Richie English is set to wed his long-term partner Kathleen Fitzgibbon. The Oola woman works as an occupational therapist.
Richie, who brought his distinguished inter-county hurling career to a close last year, and Kathleen, a member of the Limerick junior football panel who brought All-Ireland honours back to Limerick in 2018, have long been central figures in their respective circles. Now, they turn the page to a new chapter together.
Oola GAA and LGFA have extended their warm wishes to the couple as they prepare for their big day, wishing them a "lifetime of love, happiness, and unforgettable moments."

"We send our very best wishes to you both on this special occasion. May your future together be filled with joy, success, and plenty of wins both on and off the pitch."
Richie English called time on his distinguished inter-county career last year. At the time, he thanked Kathleen along with his family and friends for their help and support throughout his career.
"After nine years, the time has come for me to leave the Limerick Senior Hurling Panel. It has been an honour to be part of this group and we have made incredible memories. It is not easy to step away from such a wonderful group but unfortunately my body will not let me get to the levels needed for the coming year."
"I have been very fortunate to play with an incredible group of players who I have shared some of the best days of my life with and to them I will be forever grateful."
During a nine year spell with Limerick, English won five All-Ireland SHC medals. All-Star defender English played a key role as Limerick ended their 45-year wait for the Liam MacCarthy Cup in 2018.
The Doon clubman made his senior championship debut for Limerick in 2016. He captained Limerick to a Munster minor hurling title in 2013.
