GARDAI in Limerick and the FAI teamed up to bring a group of youngsters to the Aviva Stadium to see Ireland beat Bulgaria.
Garda Barry O'Donnell and Joe Flanagan, of the FAI, organised night league futsal for youths in the southside of Limerick city in the last number of months.
A garda spokesperson said they want to get young people off the streets and channel their energy into physical activity in order to limit anti-social behaviour.
“The night league is a success with a group of teenagers attending regularly, supervised by members from Community Policing.
“As a reward, we organised with the FAI in Limerick to bring them up to Dublin to watch the Ireland v Bulgaria match last month.
“We were treated to a great display of football on the day where we witnessed the Republic of Ireland retain their place in Nations League B after a 2-1 win against Bulgaria in the play-off second leg at the Aviva Stadium,” said a garda spokesperson.
