THE ESTUARY Rollers and Greybridge Classic Club are revving up for their annual festive convoys of joys this month.

Tractors, trucks and cars will be decked out in Christmas lights to raise money for good causes and bring smiles to faces.

Greybridge’s Christmas lights run  is  on Tuesday, December 30. They meet up in Limerick Racecourse before winding their way through towns and villages and descending on the Woodlands House Hotel. This year’s four chosen charities are Children’s Grief Centre, Critical, Cliona’s Foundation and Holy Family School in Charleville.

Preparations are well underway by Greybridge members but first up is Estuary Rollers Christmas charity vehicle run this weekend.

It begins at 4pm this Sunday, December 14 at Listowel Mart. The parade of vehicles, decked out in Christmas lights and tinsel, will travel through towns and villages of west Limerick and north Kerry. This year the route has changed slightly and will go through Listowel, Duagh, Abbeyfeale, Athea and Moyvane. From there the entourage will head for Tarbert and then onwards to the village of Glin. The tractors and trucks will then move to the Knockdown Arms where the event concludes.

This year the committee at Estuary Rollers have selected Abbeyfeale District Search and Rescue, St Gabriel’s Foundation in Limerick and Nano Nagle School, Listowel as their chosen charities. Last year, 229 vehicles took part.

Over the past four years Estuary Rollers have raised over €70,000 for local charities.

The run will be led by none other than Santa  in his sleigh. The spectacle is set to be a feast for the eyes for all ages and will help get one and all in the festive spirit.
