This special event will showcase more than 125 years of the Club’s history and heritage, and above all, the many Limerick people linked to Athlunkard Boat Club across the years.

This photography exhibition will feature over 60 photos, carefully collected and archived over a long period of time, including those donated from the community around the club and from family members of past rowers.

Athlunkard Boat Club is one of the oldest and most decorated Rowing Clubs in Limerick and the range of photos tell the story of the many people linked to the Club, spanning from 1899 to the present day, representing over a century of Local and Club history.

The planning for this project has taken place over a number of years and has been facilitated by support from The Heritage Council of Ireland and Limerick Civic Trust, for which the club committee is very grateful.

The public are warmly invited to join current Rowers and Club Members from Athlunkard Boat Club, who range from age 11 years to 70+ for this special free exhibition.

The exhibition space is accessible for members of the public with mobility limitations, including those requiring wheelchair access. The club can be contacted if members of the public have any access queries.

The exhibition will launch on Tuesday, December 2 from 6pm - 8pm and will continue on Wednesday, December 3 to Friday, December 5 at the People’s Museum of Limerick, Pery Square, Limerick, V94 HF53.

Access to the Photography Exhibition is free and for further information please contact: Caron Tierney – Photo Exhibition Coordinator and Club Member M: 087 238 2045, E: carontierney2@gmail.com

Athlunkard Boat Club would like to thank a number of Volunteers, including members of the committee, past and present, and local community, who worked hard to make this event come to life, including Caron Tierney, Sinéad Kiely, Cara Kennedy, Stephen Griffin and William O’Neill.

This special Club project was made possible through support and funding from The Heritage Council of Ireland and Limerick Civic Trust.
