Temperatures are set to soar to a whopping 23 degrees to, much to the delight of those attending the National Ploughing Championships.

There'll be no need for mucky wellies as today is looking like a scorcher in Ratheniska.

According to Met Éireann, high pressure will continue to dominate for the rest of the working week so it'll stay settled and dry with plenty of early Autumn warm sunshine.

Pressure will drop a little then over the weekend, and while it'll still be mild or warm with a good lot of dry weather, there'll be some showers too, especially in the east and south.

Today

Any mist and fog will clear this morning. Cloudy in some areas at first but sunshine will improve as the day goes on. Highest temperatures of 18 to 23 degrees, with the lowest values near the east and south coast due to a light to moderate east to southeast breeze.

Dry with mostly clear skies tonight. Mist and fog patches will form in a light easterly or variable wind. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 11 degrees.

Any mist and fog patches will clear tomorrow morning. It will be another dry day with long spells of sunshine. Highest temperatures of 17 to 23 degrees, with the lowest values near the east and south coast due to a light to moderate easterly wind.

Wednesday night and Thursday night will be dry and mostly clear. Some patches of mist and fog will form. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 12 degrees in light easterly or variable breezes.

Any early morning mist and fog will clear and both Thursday and Friday will be dry generally with plenty of sunshine. It'll possibly become a little cloudier later on Friday along the east coast. Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees, with lower values along the east coast.

It'll hold dry in most places on Friday night, with some clear spells, especially in the west, and with a few patches of mist and fog. It'll be a cloudier further east with the chance of a little drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 14 degrees in light to moderate east to northeast breezes.

While there'll be some bright or sunny spells, Saturday will be a cloudier day overall, with some showers, these most likely in Leinster and Munster, with the chance of a few isolated thunderstorms, while it'll be drier further to the north and west. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 or 20 degrees and it'll be a bit breezier than previous days with mostly moderate easterly winds.

There'll be some lingering showers on Saturday night, mainly in the east and south, but good dry spells too. A few mist and fog patches are likely under any clearer skies. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees in light to moderate northeast breezes.

Sunday will bring a mix of cloud and some sunny spells, with some further scattered showers, these mainly in Leinster and Munster, again with the chance of the odd isolated thunderstorm, but there'll be good dry spells too. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in light to moderate northeast breezes.
