Motorcyclist dies and driver injured in Waterford crash

A motorcyclist has died and a driver has been injured in a crash in Waterford city.

The crash happened on the Williamstown Road shortly after 1pm on Saturday.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 30s, was taken to University Hospital Waterford with non life-threatening injuries.

The road is closed and local diversions are in place as Garda forensic investigators examine the scene.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses and for homeowners along the Williamstown Road who may have CCTV footage to make it available to them.
