RIP: Gardai appeal for witnesses as young man dies after being struck by a car

No other injuries have been reported at this time

A man in his 20s has died after being struck by a car in the early hours of this morning, June 28. 
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in Ballymun, Dublin 11. 
 
At approximately 4:55am, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a road traffic incident involving a car and a pedestrian at Balbutcher Lane.
 
The pedestrian, a man aged in his 20s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries have been reported at this time.
 
The road is closed for technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators, with local diversions in place.
 
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
 
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána in the area said, "Any road users or pedestrians who were in the vicinity of Balbutcher Lane and Balcurris Park areas of Ballymun, between 4:00am and 5:00am, and have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
 
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Ballymun Garda Station at (01) 6664400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station," they added.
