Four teenagers were arrested by armed gardaí after they were caught in a stolen car with a haul of stolen items on Friday night.
Following a spate of incidents of theft from businesses in Cavan and Monaghan, gardaí attached to the Divisional Armed Support Unit carried out a search on a vehicle in Cavan town shortly before 8pm while on routine patrol.
Gardaí said that a number of items were recovered from the vehicle and that the vehicle had been “the subject of an unauthorised taking” earlier in Dublin 22.
With assistance from Gardaí in Cavan Community Engagement and Crime Units, the occupants of the car, four male juveniles, aged in their late teens, were arrested.
Three of the four arrested males have been released pending referral to the Garda Youth Diversion Programme.
The fourth juvenile male remains in custody at a Garda Station in the Cavan/Monaghan Division.
Investigations are ongoing, gardaí confirmed.
