Gardai have made an arrest after a car was hijacked at knifepoint in Dublin in the early hours of Friday morning.
The incident took place on the Belgard Road at around 2.45am.
A man was in his car stopped at traffic lights in the Clondalkin area when he was approached by another man brandishing a knife.
This man entered the vehicle and forced the driver to drive to another location.
The driver then escaped from the car and reported the incident to Gardai.
Gardai located the car unoccupied and the suspect, a man aged in his 30s, was arrested nearby.
The man is being detained at a Garda station in west Dublin under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
An appeal for witnesses has been issued, particularly to anyone who was travelling on Belgard Road or the Clondalkin area between 2am and 3am.
