'Christ almighty': Hurling fans appalled as UK social media star's dodgy hurl repair goes viral

UK social media stars the Bald Builders have drawn the wrath of the hurling community after the duo shared a video of an "appalling" repair job on a hurl.

The pair, Brad Hanson and Sam Hughes, are best known for their entertaining content on Facebook, TikTok and YouTube and boast millions of followers across the platforms.

On Facebook alone, the viral duo has over 1.4 million followers, one million on TikTok and a further 80,000 subscribers on YouTube.

Irish fan Kevin gifted the social media stars Kilkenny, Tipperary and Limerick jerseys, hurls personalised with their names and sliothars in a previous video posted in TikTok that racked up almost 25,000 views.

They can be seen testing out their new " hurling bats", trying on their jerseys and hilariously mispronouncing the county names. Admitting they knew nothing about hurling, they appealed to fans to educate them in the comments.

Perplexed by their newfound sport, they struggle with hitting the ball and when they eventually do the ball goes missing - one of the pair's wives can even be heard saying that the hurl reminds her of a spoon.

In a follow up video, a dejected Brad attempts to repair his "hurling stick" that cracked along the bás after "just one game of hurling".

In a clip that is sure to give hurley makers across the country nightmares, Brad fills the crack with Power Grab construction adhesive and applies fresh tape before declaring the hurl as good as new. He even jokes about setting up a hurl repair business, intending to charge £65 plus VAT, or £70 cash for the service.

Hurling fans were quick to call out the repair in the comments with an abundance of users remarking on the "dodgy" job, correcting their pronunciations and attempting to educate them on our national sport.

One user said: "It's not a hurling stick or bat, it's a hurley or hurl."

Another commented: "You need to band it so it doesn't break again."

"Must be the first person to wear a Kilkenny jersey and not know what a hurl is."

While a fourth simply said: "It's a hurl, end of discussion."
