The Nissan Primara was seized following the detection near Tralee in Co. Kerry
A learner driver is facing prosecution before the courts for multiple road traffic offences, including driving without insurance.
Highlighting the detection on social media, gardai say members of the Roads Policing Unit in Co. Kerry were on patrol in Tralee when they observed a Nissan Primera car turning away from a checkpoint.
The car was subsequently intercepted and it was established the driver did not have insurance and that both the Motor Tax and the NCT were out of date for nearly six years.

Gardai say there was no qualified driver in the car when it was stopped - a specific offence given that the driver was on a learner permit.
Following the detection, the vehicle was seized under the Road Traffic Act.
A number of Fixed Charge Penalty Notices were issued while court summonses will also be issued relating to some of the allected offences.
