Doireann Garrihy opens up about her engagement

Doireann Garrihy has opened up about her engagement while chatting to Dermot Whelan.

The broadcaster was on Dermot's podcast, The Power of Creativity, when she opened up about her relationship with comedian Mark Mehigan.

A happy Doireann started by saying she would talk about the engagement with anyone. 

"I will talk about it with anyone, I will milk it for as long as possible," she said.

The podcaster asked her if it was nice to be with someone who understands the pressure of her job.

"I never could have anticipated it being the way it is, I kind of thought you know you at times where I would be on my own and think about what would be a good match for me. I kind of thought someone in an opposite career because I got, you know, 'I'll come home from my creative job and they'll come home from their office job and we'll just, our worlds will collide in a romantic way', but we won't talk work. That was what I kind of dreamt up. Of course, it never happens the way you think it might happen," she confided. 

"It's a massive bonus to be able to talk to him about my fears and the imposter moments and he does the same with me and I think we're a great fit in that way," she said.
