Measles: HSE urges Dublin flight passengers to come forward after third case confirmed in Ireland

The HSE has issued an urgent call to people who were on a Dublin-bound flight after someone on the plane was confirmed to have measles.

The HSE has appealed to anyone who was on the flight EY45 from Abu Dhabi to Dublin, which arrived on Sunday, March 9 at 6.30 am to contact HSELive on 1800 700 700.

They have also said that any passenger on the flight who is pregnant, immunocompromised, or under the age of 12-months-old should be urgently put in contact with their local HSE Department of Public Health or HSELive, as immediate treatment may be “beneficial”.

All passengers who were on the flight should be aware of the signs and symptoms of measles, including cold-like symptoms such as a runny nose, sneezing and a cough, and sore red eyes.

Symptoms also include a temperature of 38 degrees celsius or above and a rash, which usually appears on the head and neck before spreading to the rest of the body.

If any of the passengers have any of these symptoms, they have been asked to stay at home in an isolated room and seek healthcare advice.

They have also been asked to call ahead of attending any healthcare setting.
