One west Clare councillor saw a major increase in his social media activity following the 2024 Oscars, as he shares a name with the first Irish winner for Best Actor.
Cllr Cillian Murphy said his social media mentions "went through the roof" following actor Cillian Murphy's triumph at the Oscars on Sunday night, March 10.
Speaking on Newstalk, he said he's been tagged in a huge amount of advertising, "thanks to one particular national grocery store."
The grocery store in question is Lidl, who have offered discounts to any users of their Lidl Plus app with the name Cillian or Cillian Murphy.
Replying to one comment that he was tagged in, Cllr Murphy joked about whether he would "have to declare it on the register of interests".
