'Someone left her like this' - Donations needed to help severely ill dog found straying
An animal charity is seeking donations for the treatment of a badly neglected dog found as a stray.
Ireland's oldest and largest animal rescue, DSPCA, launched the campaign earlier today (February 7) in aid of the severely ill dog they have named Peggy.
According to the charity, she is suffering from a severe case of mange and has lost nearly all of her fur, she is underweight, her nails are overgrown, she has dental disease, severe conjunctivitis and cherry eye in both eyes.
It will reportedly take Peggy "weeks, if not months" to recover from her many illnesses.
In a post published on their official Facebook page, a DSPCA spokesperson stated: "Why, just why. Someone left her like this. Someone did this to her. Someone caused her this suffering and pain. Someone left her all alone.
"It's going to take Peggy weeks, if not months to recover. Her life as it should be starts here with us. With your help we will care for and love her and find her a wonderful home.
"NO animal deserves this, we HAVE to do better, we NEED to do better. Be a GOOD Human, be KIND to animals."
The campaign has raised over €1,300 so far.
Anyone wishing to donate funds towards Peggy's ongoing care can do so via DSPCA social media
