An Irishman with an “extensive criminal history” has been deported from the US.
Hughie Antony O’Donoghue, aged 25, who is wanted in Ireland on four assault charges, was sent back to Ireland by deportation officers on Wednesday, January 17.
O’Donoghue was told to be “a threat to the residents of Massachusetts communities”.
Todd Lyons, ERO Boston Field Office Director, said: "Not only was Hughie O'Donoghue wanted by Irish authorities on four active arrest warrants - he also has an extensive history of violent crimes."
Mr Lyons added: "O'Donoghue represented a threat to the residents of our Massachusetts communities, and ERO Boston was not going to let him evade justice. We cannot allow New England to become a safe haven for the world’s criminals."
