Commuters are facing delays on one route this morning after a train struck a deer.

The Tralee/Mallow service is delayed by approximately 35 minutes after the unfortunate incident which happened at Millstreet in Cork earlier this morning.

It has not been a good day for rail commuters after a signaling issue at Dundrum caused delays of up to 20mins plus for Cork/Heuston and Limerick/Heuston services earlier this morning.

Irish Rail updated afterwards to confirm that the signaling issue had been rectified and delays were expected to decrease as they regulated trains back to schedule.

It was also announced this morning by Irish Rail that the Drogheda/Bray service was operating at reduced capacity due to an 'operational issue'

Earlier, at 6.15am it was announced by the national rail carrier that Longford to Pearse Station was operating at reduced capacity due to a technical issue

Meanwhile, there were a number of crashes on the M50 motorway this morning which caused delays for drivers travelling in and out of Dublin.
