Teenage pedestrian dies following fatal road traffic collision in Kerry

Gardaí are currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the R555 at Duagh Village, Listowel, Co. Kerry last night Saturday 7th October 2023.

At approximately 9.50pm Gardaí were attended the scene where a male pedestrian, aged in his late teens, was seriously injured and removed from the scene to Kerry University Hospital. He later passed away. A post mortem will take place in due course. The female driver, early 20s and the three passengers (all in their later teens) of the vehicle were uninjured.

The scene of the collision is currently preserved for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators (FCI).  The road remains closed and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí in Listowel are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who were travelling on the R555 last night between 9.30pm and 10pm, and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), is asked to make this available to Gardaí.
