ALTERNATIVE rock, RnB and hip-hop are some of the genres Limerick artist Harry Kelly entwines in his music.

The vocalist and music producer from Limerick city puts on a performance with https://www.dolans.ie/weeklynewsletterhis band in the Record Room at The Commercial this Thursday, April 6 at 8pm.

Harry released his debut album “Shark Eyes” last year and it was met with a large positive reception from around the country and beyond.

The album features an alluring blend of genres and soundscapes such as the funky, warm guitar tones and hip-hop vocals on the song “Don’t Change” featuring GavinDaVinci, the fluidic breakbeats reminiscent of the drum and bass genre on “Down”, and the nostalgia-invoking folk track “Knocknarea Hills”.

Though contrasting in some ways, each song complements each other through Harry’s clever lyricism and tight production which are both constant throughout the album.

“My recent album Shark Eyes is just a snapshot of all the styles I dabble in. It’s completely written, produced, mixed and mastered myself,” outlined Harry.

Harry’s band, named the Magic Band, is a backing outfit including members Liam Liddane-Dillon, Luke Foley and Ewan O’Dea from currently booming roots/folk rock sensation Cascando.

“I’m always very impressed by the production on Harry’s tunes considering he had no formal training in audio engineering, but

I suppose he’s just a bit of a prodigy in that way. They’re really fun songs to play and I love the challenge of playing them,” said Liam.

Supporting the main act will be Tipperary hip-hop artist GavinDaVinci and Clare-based folk-pop artist Colm Brennan.

Tickets cost €5 and are available on eventbrite.ie and at the door.
