The northbound bore of the Limerick Tunnel has been closed as a result of the crash
The Limerick Tunnell has fully re-opened following an earlier multi-vehicle collision which resulted in closure of the northbound bore.
The alarm was raised shortly after 6pm this Thursday after a number of cars collided in the overtaking lane of the N18 on the Shannon side of the Tunnel next exit 3 (Caherdavin).
Gardai, paramedics from the National Ambulance Service as well as seven units of the fire service from Limerick city and Shannon attended the scene for a number of hours.
There were lengthy delays in the area as a result of the collision with diversions in place. However traffic has since returned to normal.
