A LIMERICK motorist was caught speeding 36km/h over the limit in a built up area in the city on National Slow Down Day.
In the first five hours of National Slow Down Day, GoSafe checked the speeds of 35,802 vehicles, and detected approximately 75 vehicles travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit.
One of those was a motorist travelling at 136km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N18 Ballinacurra Weston road in Limerick.
An Garda Síochána would like to thank drivers for their compliance during National Slow Down Day, which commenced this Friday, December 20 at 7am.
Gardaí continue to urge drivers to comply with speed limits "to reduce the number of speed-related collisions, save lives and reduce injuries on our roads".
