NEW Year’s Day was a day of firsts for mum Fiona Ryan - she welcomed her first child into the world at sixteen minutes past midnight - the first Limerick baby of 2015.
Luke McInerney weighed in at 3.48kg, which is about 7lbs 11ozs.
He’s the first child of Fiona Ryan from Bishop Steet in the city and Ger McInerney.
“We are delighted and looking forward to the future,” said Fiona.
A total of 12 babies were born at the Mid-Western Regional Maternity Hospital on the Ennis Road on New Year’s Day.
“We had five boys and seven girls. It would have been an extremely busy day. They are all healthy and happy - the most important thing,” commented Mary Tevlin, clinical midwife manager at Mid-Western Regional Maternity Hospital.
