Fixture details confirmed for Limerick v Clare Munster Hurling Cup final

THE Limerick hurlers are off to Ennis next Sunday for the final of the Co-Op Superstores Munster Hurling Cup.

Munster GAA officials confirmed this Monday afternoon that the Shannonside derby will take place this January 23 at 2pm in Cusack Park in Ennis.

Tickets will go on sale online at 10am this Wednesday January 19 - details here

Attendance will again be capped at 5,000 due to Covid-19 guidelines. The game will be streamed live by Munster GAA.

John Kiely's Limerick will be looking to retain the title they won when beating Cork in the final of the Munster Hurling League in January 2020.

Limerick also won the title in 2018 when defeating Clare in the Gaelic Grounds.

Previous Limerick successes in the early season provincial competition were 2015 and 2006.

This January 23 fixture will be the first competitive fixture between Limerick and Clare since October 2020 - a game which the men in green won 0-36 to 1-23 in a game that doubled up as the Allianz League final and Munster SHC quarter final.

Sunday will be the first of three trips this season to Cusack Park to play in senior hurling with a Sunday March 6 tie in round four of the Allianz League and a Sunday May 8 tie in Limerick's third game of the Munster SHC.
