Connacht's JJ Hanrahan kicks a penalty against his old club Munster in the URC at the Sportsground in Galway on New Year's Day
CONNACHT Rugby today confirmed that the results from an MRI scan have found that former Munster out-half JJ Hanrahan suffered an ACL knee injury during the province's URC win over Dragons late last month.
Talented play-maker Hanrahan, 31, will undergo surgery later this month before beginning a rehabilitation plan.
The news was confirmed ahead of Connacht's trip to Limerick this Saturday to face Munster Rugby in a crucial URC interprovincial derby, 5.15pm, live on RTE2.
Connacht also confirmed that Cian Prendergast (thumb) will be unavailable this week, while Denis Buckley (shoulder) will be out for a number of weeks after injuries in the same game.
Jack Carty (hamstring) and Byron Ralston (ankle) have returned to full training and are available for selection.
Jack Aungier (neck) and Sean Jansen (groin) continue to be monitored and their availability for Munster will be assessed in the coming days.
Santiago Cordero (knee) continues to integrate into full training following his ACL injury.
Munster Rugby have won their last six URC fixtures with the holders most recent defeat in the competition coming against Connacht at the Sportsground in Galway on New Year's Day.
