BREAKING: Limerick ladies football manager steps down

LIMERICK ladies football manager Patrick O'Connor has stepped down from his role on Friday morning.

In a statement on social media, Limerick LGFA said: "Limerick LGFA wishes to announce that Patrick O'Connor has stepped down from his role as the manager of the Limerick ladies football junior team with immediate effect. We would like to thank him for the work he had put into the team since taking up his role. John Lynch will now take up the position as manager of the junior football team". 

O'Connor replaced Mike Quilligan and Sean Kiely as Limerick ladies football manager in October and after three months in charge the Clare native has left his role.

Gerald Griffins clubman John Lynch will now take over as manager of the Limerick ladies football team. Lynch has been part of the Limerick U20 football management teams in 2024 and 2025 under Shane Kelly and John O'Grady. He led his club Gerald Griffins to the Limerick Intermediate Football championship final in 2019. 

Shane Kelly will continue his role as head coach of the Limerick ladies football team. The Limerick ladies football team suffered a 3-6 to 0-8 defeat to Roscommon in the opening round of the Lidl Division Three National League on last Sunday afternoon in Kiltoom.

The Shannonsiders play Antrim in round two of the National Football League on Sunday afternoon at 2:30pm in the University of Limerick, North Campus.
