BREAKING: Second serious assault in Limerick overnight being investigated

GARDAIí are investigating a second serious assault in Limerick city overnight

Hours after a stabbing-related incident on Athlunkard Street a man was assaulted on St Alphonsus Street, near the Dock Road.

A garda spokesperson said officers and emergency services responded to the incident shortly after 3am this Wednesday morning.

“A man, aged in his 20s, was brought to Cork University Hospital where he remains in a serious condition. The scene remains preserved for a technical examination,” said a garda spokesperson.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.

“Any road users or pedestrians who were on St Alphonsus Street or in the vicinity of the Dock Road or Henry Street during the early hours of this morning, Wednesday, March 18, and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Henry Street garda station on 061 212400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station. Investigations are ongoing,” said a garda spokesperson.
