First up in Group A of the third tier competition is a trip to Kilkenny this Sunday, June 1 for a 2pm start in John Locke Park, Callan. Limerick will also play Louth, Sligo and Derry in the coming weeks.
Limerick Ladies footballers retained their TG4 Munster Senior 'B' Football Championship title after a highly entertaining 4-7 to 4-5 final victory over Clare in Mallow last weekend.
It was an enthralling encounter that had everything, not least goals. Both sides were in fine attacking form which resulted in an eight-goal thriller.
Limerick joint-manager Sean Kiely was delighted with his sides performance. “It was great, the girls worked very hard and we're just delighted now that we get to keep going now,” he said.
“Winning is a habit and we're hoping to carry that through to out first game in the All-Ireland series against Kilkenny,” he added.
Kiely and Limerick have little time to revel in their provincial achievement as an All-Ireland series awaits which commences next week.
“The big one for us is this All-Ireland Championship. We've had one eye on this all year so it's time for us to go at that and hopefully make it out of the group, get to Croke Park and make Limerick proud,” he said.
