THE third round of the 3Dental Limerick Ladies Football Championship gets underway this weekend with only two teams in the senior ranks still unbeaten after the opening two rounds of fixtures.
St Ailbe's are currently commanding top spot in group one of the senior championship after beating Ballylanders and most recently Old Mill, 1-12 to 0-4. They will now take on Galtee Gaels in Ballybricken on Sunday, August 25 at 6pm in their final group game. Galtee Gaels sit in third position on the table after an opening round one-point victory over Old Mill and a disappointing 2-13 to 0-14 loss away to Ballylanders last weekend.
Old Mill have another tough weekend ahead as they face Ballylanders on home soil also on Sunday at 6pm. The club have struggled in their first two games of the championship and will get a rough draw for the quarter-finals as well. Second position club Ballylanders have one win and one loss in the championship getting the better of Galtee Gaels last weekend.
In group two Monagea are well on their way to retaining their championship crown with two victories already against Dromcollogher Broadford and Feoghanagh/Castlemahon. They now take on Oola in their final group game on Sunday at 6pm. This will be a battle of the top two teams as Oola have also had a competitive championship only drawing with Feoghanagh/Castlemahon in their first game before beating Dromcollogher Broadford last weekend, 3-7 to 1-8. The final senior game taking place this weekend will be Dromcollogher Broadford hosting Feoghanagh/Castlemahon on Sunday at 6pm as well. Drom/Broadford currently sit at the bottom of group two with two losses already.
Elsewhere in the 3Dental Limerick Intermediate Championship Knockainey are off to a flying start in group one with two wins over Murroe Boher and Athea. They now travel to Fr Casey's this Sunday at 6pm for the third round of the championship. This will be another top of the table clash with Casey's in second place on the table with an opening round win over Murroe Boher and most recently an impressive 2-13 to 1-5 victory over Athea.
Murroe Boher and Athea will face off against each other in Athea GAA club this Sunday at 6pm in the final third round fixture of that group.
In group two of the intermediate championship Mungret St Paul's got their campaign off to a winning start with an impressive 5-14 to 1-2 victory over St Brigid's, after receiving a bye in the first round.
Adare also got the better of St Brigid's the week previous with a two point victory. With their two games played St Brigid's have a weekend off as Adare travel to Mungret on Sunday for a 6pm kick-off.
In round three of the 3Dental Limerick Junior A Championship Pallasgreen and Monaleen remain unbeaten with two victories under their belts with the two sides meeting in the third round fixture this Sunday in Monaleen at 11am.
Ahane who are third in the table host St Senan's while St Ailbe's take on Croom with the two sides at the bottom of the Junior A table.
In the Junior B competition, which is only in round two, top of group one Galtee Gaels will get a bye this weekend with Ballylanders hosting Knockainey.
Mungret St Paul's, who are top of group two, will host Ballybrown while Oola enjoy a break. In group three Monagea take on Dromcollogher/Broadford and finally in group four Old Mill host Cappagh. All the above Junior B fixtures take place on Saturday, August 24 at 6pm.
