Limerick District League eye Oscar Traynor Trophy Munster final

The Limerick District League Oscar Traynor side which defeated the Clare League 4-2 in their opening round game

THE Limerick District League meet their Munster Senior League counterparts in Carrig Park, Fermoy, in the Munster final of the Oscar Traynor trophy at 2.00pm this Sunday.

The winners reward is a place in the semi finals of the tournament.

With the youth side crashing out at the same stage to the Cork AUL, hopes are high for better luck this time out.

Limerick District were good in their opener, a 4-2 win away to the Clare District League. Conor Coughlan scored three on the night with Darragh Rainsford also netting.

The Munster Senior League beat the Cork Shipping League in the semi-final and with home advantage will fancy their chances.
However, Limerick District have a strong squad at their disposal this season with Steven McGann joining up with the squad for this round.

ON SUNDAY, Athlunkard Villa host Geraldines in th Tuohy Cup while one game on the Premier League sees Corbally, desperate for points, host Mungret Regional.

In the Premier A League, leaders Newport will be favoured to continue on their winning ways at Aisling Annacotty B. Second-placed Star Rovers will het nothing easy at home to Carew Limerick Utd.

Hoping for the top two to slip are Moyross Utd A who travel to Kilmallock.

Top game in Division 1A has leaders Herbertstown A and Shelbourne doing battle while closest challengers Holycross and Murroe also face off against each other.

Division 2A leaders Hyde Rangers B welcome Aisling Annacotty C to Hyde park.

Midweek action is on Thursdsy evening when last weekend's postponed Tuohy Cup game between Fairview Rangers and Ballynanty Rovers is rescheduled.

This has the potential to be a classic with the two best teams in the league facing off. Fingers crossed that injuries are avoided with the Oscar Traynor side in action three days later.
