The Limerick line-up sees a remarkable return from a knee injury for Effin clubman Nickie Quaid as he is named in goals.

Quaid ruptured his ACL while he was playing soccer with some of his clubmates during the off-season last November.

Quaid won his third All-Star in 2024. The Limerick goalkeeper had another stellar campaign between the sticks in 2024 and the 35-year-old has been a crucial member of the Limerick side for several years.

Limerick's line-up for the opening round robin fixture of the provincial championship sees the inclusion of Barry Murphy at corner back, Colin Coughlan at wing-back, Adam English at corner forward and Shane O'Brien at full-forward.

An experienced substitutes' bench includes Dan and Tom Morrissey as well as Sean Finn, Darragh O'Donovan, Peter Casey and substitute goalkeeper Shane Dowling. Declan Hannon and Seamus Flanagan are not named in the match-day squad for the game.

LIMERICK: Nickie Quaid; Barry Murphy, Michael Casey, Barry Nash; Diarmaid Byrnes, Kyle Hayes, Colin Coughlan; William O'Donoghue, Cian Lynch; Gearoid Hegarty, David Reidy, Cathal O'Neill; Aaron Gillane, Shane O'Brien, Adam English. Subs: Shane Dowling, Peter Casey, Sean Finn, Ethan Hurley, Dan Morrissey, Tom Morrissey, Aidan O'Connor, Fergal O'Connor, Donnacha Ó Dálaigh, Darragh O'Donovan, Paddy O'Donovan.
