Two Limerick hurling stars have been named in Electric Ireland Higher Education team of the year. University of Limerick's Colin Coughlan and Adam English played key roles on their college's run to winning the Fitzgibbon Cup. Colin Coughlan has been chosen at wing back and Adam English has been picked at midfield in the Electric Ireland Higher Education team of the year.

UL defeated DCU 0-23 to 1-15 in the Fitzgibbon Cup final in February. English scored 1-8 from play on UL's run to winning the Fitzgibbon Cup. Ballybrown native Colin Coughlan captained the Limerick college to Fitzgibbon Cup glory. The UL captain was on target with 0-4 during Fitzgibbon Cup. 

Both English and Coughlan started in all six of Limerick's Allianz Hurling League games. Eight UL players have been included in the team of the year.

UL's Darach Fahy, Patrick Crotty, Mark Fitzgerald, Gearoid O'Connor and Jack Leahy have all been named on the Electric Ireland Higher Education team of the year.

Runners-up DCU have five players on the team of the year which includes Paddy Langton, Padraic Moylan, Donal Shirley, Joe Flanagan and Cian Boran. MTU's Darragh O'Sullivan and UCC's Ciaran Doolan complete the Electric Ireland Higher Education team of the year.
