Ahane and Murroe-Boher to battle it out for U20A hurling championship title

LIMERICK U20A hurling honours is up for grabs this Sunday afternoon as Ahane and Murroe-Boher go head to head in the championship final.

The game had originally been fixed for Doon today, Sunday, but has now been transferred to ULs North Campus with the same throw-in time.

Ahane booked their place in this year's U20A final with an impressive display against Garryspillane, winning out on a scoreline of 2-21 to 0-16. Similarly Murroe-Boher got the better of Cappamore in their semi-final to take the final spot in the decider.

Murroe-Boher are no strangers to U20 finals with today's game being their third final in a row after winning the title in 2022 and narrowly losing out in last year's game.

In comparison Ahane last won a U20 premier hurling title back in 1986, but in the meantime the club won a number of B titles.

Both sides have looked exciting throughout the championship with Murroe-Boher getting over the challenges of Knockainey-Hospital Herberstown and Ballybrown in the group stages with their round five tie against Croagh-Kilfinny/Rathkeale abandoned due to heavy fog.

Their only defeat in the round robin was that re-fixture game against the Croagh-Rathkeale amalgamation side which saw them lose out on a scoreline of 2-12 to 1-21.

Interestingly this evening's finalists have already met this season in the group stages of the championship with Murroe-Boher taking the bragging rights on that occasion with two goals sealing the win over Ahane back in Ocotber.

There will be fire in Ahane's bellies to try and overcome Murroe-Boher on this occasion as the West Limerick team got the better of Croagh-Kilfinny/Rathkeale, Killacolla Gaels and Knockainey.
