Semi-Final places up for grabs in Limerick senior hurling championship

THE two make-or-break Limerick senior hurling championship quarter-finals take place this Sunday afternoon.

In the opening game, Patrickswell face Monaleen in Bruff at 2pm. The ‘Well finished in fourth place in Group one. Limerick stars Cian Lynch and Aaron Gillane missed their club's last group game through injury. Manager Ciaran Carey will be hoping to have both players back on the pitch for the clash with Monaleen.

It has been a mixed campaign for last year's county finalists, winning two of their group games and losing the other three games.

Monaleen are a club who have steadily been building momentum in the last two years. In 2023, the city side won the All-Ireland intermediate hurling title and this year Monaleen's minor team claimed their first ever Premier minor hurling crown. Eoin Brislane's charges finished in second place in Group two of the SHC.

The winner of Patrickswell and Monaleen tie will face Doon in the county semi-final on October 13 in Kilmallock at 1pm.

In this Sunday's second Limerick senior hurling quarter-final, Kilmallock take on Ballybrown in Mick Neville Park at 5pm. Kilmallock finished their campaign on a high against Patrickswell when sharpshooter Shane O'Brien finished with a big personal tally of 0-7.

The South Limerick side are starting to find their flow and manager Peter Queally will be hoping that current Limerick hurler Oisin O'Reilly will make his return from injury in Sunday's clash.

Ballybrown finished top of Group two and Christy Keyes’ side have earned promotion into Group one for the 2025 season. Limerick stars Colin Coughlan and Aidan O'Connor have stood out for them so far.

The winner of the Kilmallock and Ballybrown quarter-final will face Na Piarsaigh in the semi-final on October 13 in Mick Neville Park at 5pm.The venues for the Bon Secours Limerick senior hurling championship semi-finals have been confirmed. 

This year's Limerick SHC semi-finals will take place in Kilmallock and Mick Neville Park on October 13.

It was reported at a recent Limerick county board meeting that there was some damage done to a section of the pitch at the TUS Gaelic Grounds following the staging of a three-day music festival at the venue in late August.

Limerick County Board has now made the decision that in order to protect the playing surface at the Ennis Road venue, the upcoming county senior hurling semi-finals will not be played there. The Limerick SHC final is set to take place in the TUS Gaelic Grounds on Sunday, October 27.
