The three accused appeared via videolink at Limerick District COurt
A FATHER and two sons who are charged in connection with a violent incident in County Limerick earlier this month have been further remanded in custody.
Michael Harty, aged 27, of Deel Manor, Askeaton, and Danny Harty Jr, aged 22, of Geitne Close, Askeaton, are each charged with one count of violent disorder relating to an incident at Main Street, Patrickswell on the evening of Wednesday, December 21.
Gardai allege there was a ramming incident and a mass brawl in the village following which two males were hospitalised.
The brothers were refused bail at a special special court sitting on December 23.
On the following day - Christmas Eve - their father Daniel Harty Snr, aged 56, of Geitne Close, Askeaton appeared before a special sitting of Limerick District Court.
He is charged with section 3 assault, violent disorder and producing an article in the course of a dispute in relation to the same night in Patrickswell. He too was refused bail.
All three defendants appeared before Judge Alec Gabbett again this week at a special vacation of the court.
Mr Harty Snr was represented by Liam Carroll BL, instructed by Darach McCarthy, solicitor.
Applying for a four-week adjournment, Sergeant Aisling O’Neill, prosecuting for the State, said DPP’s directions remain outstanding.
Mr Carroll said there was consent to two weeks.
Next to appear via videolink was Danny Harty Jnr, represented by Tom Kiely, solicitor.
Again, Sgt O’Neill sought a four week adjournment for DPP’s directions.
Mr Kiely said his client is "in custody" and asked for two weeks.
Last of the three to appear via videolink was Michael Harty, who was also represented by Mr Kiely.
Judge Gabbett adjourned the cases against all three accused until January 10 for DPP’s directions.
