A FESTIVE fundraiser took place in Limerick city earlier this week to raise funds for a sensory garden for children in need.
To help with the development of a sensory garden at the Children’s Respite House in Mungret, St Gabriel’s Foundation hosted its annual Christmas Ladies Lunch at the Savoy Hotel.
The organisation, which was recently named 'Best Not For Profit' at the Limerick Chamber Regional Business Awards was delighted to host the event again following a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19.
Organised by the fundraising committee of Agnes Bouchier-Hayes, Lucia Randles and Elaine Sparling, a raffle was made possible thanks to the generosity of local businesses and people who donated prizes for the event.
St. Gabriel’s CEO, Treasa McAuliffe, said she found it heartening to see so many familiar faces at the event.
“The committee works tirelessly to make sure that the day is a success. The support from local businesses and the local community for St. Gabriel’s has been so welcome. It is great to be recognised for the great work being done at our centres across the city and county," she said,
“Events like this mean that we can raise much-needed funds so that we can continue to develop the services we provide for people living with disabilities in Limerick and the Mid-West,” Ms McAuliffe added.
