MOTORISTS in Limerick will be asked to pay more at the tunnel and at toll roads across the country.
It comes after Transport Infrastructure Ireland confirmed increases across the nation's paid-for network from January 1.
Access to the Limerick Tunnel will rise from €2 for a car to €2.10. The motorcyclist rate will go up from €1 to €1.10, while entry for buses will cost €3.80, up from €3.50.
Heavy goods drivers will be asked to pay the same rate as bus drivers, while vehicles of two or three axles and four axle engine will face an increase to €5.40 and €6.80 respectively.
The same increases will come into play on the tolled part of the M7 motorway near Portlaoise, which links Limerick to Dublin.
Drivers on the M50 between Blanchardstown and Lucan en route to Dublin Airport are facing sharper rises - with access for a car costing between €2.30 and €3.50 depending on the method of payment.
It's the first time in a decade a rise will be seen on the capital's link.
Dublin Tunnel is the only tolled road not upping its prices.
In a statement, TTI said all tolls on the national road network “are regulated through inflation [Consumer Price Index] and cannot go above inflation”.
