Limerick hotel manager given major role on sports and tourism board

Commenting on his appointment, Stephen O’Connor said: 'I am pleased to take on the role of chair of the Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau at an important time for the region'

Stephen O’Connor - the general manager of Limerick's Strand Hotel - has been appointed as the new chair of the Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau. 

Commenting on his appointment, Mr O’Connor said: “I am pleased to take on the role of chair of the Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau at an important time for the region.”

“The Bureau continues to play a vital role in attracting high-value business and sports tourism, thereby supporting the wider hospitality and events sector.”

Limerick Chamber Member, Caoimhe Moloney, stated that: “Stephen and the bureau share a common commitment to the Mid-West region promoting, hosting and campaigning for international events to take place across Limerick, Clare, Tipperary and Offaly.” 

Mr O’Connor has worked within the MHL Hotel Collection for over a decade, and has worked as a general manager of The Strand Hotel in Limerick for seven years. 

The newly-appointed chair is also the incoming president of Limerick Central Rotary.
