MCMAHONS Builders Providers have been providing quality building supplies and DIY materials to the trade and public for over 185 years.

They offer a one stop shop offering to customers, with a wide range of products catering for the Builder, DIY enthusiast and Home owner.

A vast product range includes building materials, plumbing and heating, timber and sheeting, insulation, plant and tool hire, painting and decorating, doors and floors, bathrooms, garden and outdoor and much more.

McMahons’ commitment to quality and expertise ensures that when customers visit a store, they can always be assured they are getting top quality products, great value and expert advice and assistance from friendly and knowledgeable teams. It is this ethos that has enabled McMahons Builders Providers to become one of the most respected builders’ merchants in the country.

Founded in 1830, in the bustling port city of Limerick, by the mid-19th century McMahons was a flourishing business involved in cooperage, manufacturing, and sawmilling. From its earliest days, McMahons had been a major importer of timber materials to support its various activities.

In the early part of the 20th century, the company grew to become the largest timber supplier in the country. Later, McMahons widened its focus to include all building materials used by the construction industry.

In recent years, the further expansion of the company included the acquisition of Francis Speight, a large timber importer in the Republic of Ireland, as well as Robert Keyes, a builders merchant in Northern Ireland.

Today, McMahons Builders Providers has grown to become one of the largest independent builders’ providers in Ireland, with a network of 11 stores nationwide as well as a Truss Manufacturing plant and three Hardwood and Sheet Material branches.

Committed to the local community

McMahons is committed to supporting the local community and is a strong believer in the importance of community cohesion and spirit.

Over the last 12 months, McMahons has proactively supported community based projects on a local and national level via its store network.

Recently, the Limerick building firm donated a van to a charity helping people in need in Kenya. McMahons is helping Le Cheila Africa motor forward with the donation of the vehicle as a result.

“This support is evidenced through our support for local sports clubs and charity events, as well as our support of training programmes for groups within local communities,” said a spokesperson.

“We have implemented numerous projects and initiatives over the last 12 months. For example, we have just renewed our sponsorship of the Limerick community games. This voluntary organisation has been at the heart of every community in Ireland for almost 50 years. In a time when communities seem to be disbanding, this organisation is one of the fabrics that hold it together.

“We support this organisation on a financial level but also through employee involvement. We have an active presence at the numerous events held throughout the year and our staff volunteer when required. Our senior management can also be seen presenting medals at presentations throughout the year.

“From a training perspective, we work with initiatives such as the Limerick Youth Service and government employee training programmes to offer people the chance to gain work experience and improve their career prospects in the future,” they added.

The next chapter

McMahons are presently entering an exciting phase with our new website and e-commerce business that as a company as a whole will be striving to offer customers more product ranges and an exceptional customer purchasing journey and above all excellent customer service.

“The customers are the lifeblood of the company and we strive to exceed our customers’ expectations on a daily basis. If you have an experience that you are not happy with, we would like you to contact us and we will aim to resolve it and makes the experience better for you,” said the spokesperson.

“Over the coming years, we will be hoping with the help of you, the customers and our dedicated team at McMahons to expand our product line and are at the forefront of construction and DIY trends in the business.”
