The Limerick Youth Service is one of six enterprises getting funding
SIX social enterprises in Limerick are set to share in a €210,000 funding boost, thanks to Dormant Account Funding.
The money, welcomed by local Senator Kieran O’Donnell, include the Northside Family Resource Centre, which will get €20,000 to buy kitchen equipment to maximise the impact of its meals on wheels service.
Ballyhoura Rural Services is getting €74,000 to fund farm and training equipment for the social farm project at Doon.
Down Syndrome Ireland is getting €30,000 for improvements to its facilities at Castletroy.
Some €29,175 is going to the Learning Hub Limerick at the New Road in Kileely.
This will enable the firm to develop its Health Hub into a central resource for physical and mental health, nutrition and personal development for all members of the community.
Carebright in Bruff gets €20,000 for a functional sensory room.
And €35,057 is going to the Limerick Youth Service, to fund the refurbishment of its existing facilities.
Mr O’Donnell said: “The main aim of the funding is to increase the impact of social enterprises by enhancing their capacity to delivery services and generate traded income through the provision of small capital grants. Social enterprises are hugely important in towns and cities across Limerick. They drive job creation, deliver essential services, bring social benefits and breathe life into communities.”
“This new funding will allow them all to provide an improved service to all who depend on them.”
