Winning Streak hosts Marty Whelan and Sinéad Kennedy
TWO Limerick women are hoping to strike it lucky and spin the big wheel on Winning Streak this Saturday night.
The duo will appear on the National Lottery TV gameshow this Saturday, November 17 on RTÉ One.
Ann Marie Doyle from Ballynanty Beg in the city and Esther Bolger from Hospital, County Limerick, could win up to €500,000 as they appear alongside the show’s hosts, Marty Whelan and Sinéad Kennedy.
Saturday’s Winning Streak appearance is just the tonic for city woman, Ann Marie Doyle, who has spent all of last week nursing her six children who were sick with tummy bugs.
Last Saturday night, Ann Marie in bed with her husband Paul watching Winning Streak when she heard her name called out. After getting over the initial shock, the pair jumped out of bed before Ann Marie’s family called around to celebrate.
She is currently busy studying at St Enda’s school and plans to complete her junior and leaving cert in the coming years.
She has been married to Paul, who is from the Congo, for the past six years. She has six children, Maylee, Chyre, Kian, Guylith, Nsala and Marianna who are all aged between 1 and a half and 19. She will be supported in the Winning Streak audience by her whole family, including her parents, John and Anne Doyle.
Ann Marie has only one thing in mind for her Winning Streak winnings – a new house for her family! Any money won on the show in Saturday night will be put towards a deposit for a family home that they can call their own.
Despite being an avid Winning Streak fan, Esther Bolger from Hospital missed the most important Winning Streak episode of all – the one where her name was called out!
She was at home on Saturday night with her family when she got a call from her cousin’s son to say that her ticket was pulled out on the show. As it was a Saturday night, Esther shrugged him off and assumed that he had been drinking! After numerous other calls from other friends and family, Esther could finally celebrate knowing that she was about to appear on the show.
Esther who works in childcare is joined by her partner John who she met in England over 20 years ago. Esther has been widowed over 31 years after her husband, Corporal Billy Bolger passed away while on duty in the Lebanon with the Irish Defence Forces.
The apple of Esther’s eye is her one and only son Paul who is 32 years old. Paul who recently set-up his own undertaker business in Dublin is married to Louise and have two children, James and Cuy.
Esther had a difficult decision to make ahead of Saturday’s Winning Streak appearance as she already had plans to enjoy a weekend in the plush surroundings of Adare Manor. The decision was made to cancel her stay at the hotel but she plans to re-book again in the coming weeks.
The Limerick woman will be celebrating her Winning Streak appearance in Dublin this weekend with her two brothers, Liam and Dermot and the rest of her extended family.
The enhanced National Lottery game show will feature some perennial favorite games as well but also brand new games including Play or Pay, Roll for Riches, WinFall and Electric Dream – where one player will win an electric car worth €25,000.
As ever one of the lucky five players will get the chance to spin the wheel and win up to €500,000.
