LIMERICK’s newest secondary school has appointed a principal – at the second time of asking.
The Educate Together secondary school, which will open its doors in Plassey this September, has confirmed Eoin Shinners as its new principal.
An alumni of Mary Immaculate College and University College Dublin, Mr Shinners has been an assistant principal and teacher of history and multimedia in Coláiste Iósaef Community College in Kilmallock.
He also works as an associate with the Junior Cycle for Teachers (JCT) Support Service.
Niall Wall, school manager and reginal development officer at Educate Together said: “This is a fabulous development for the school to have recruited such a high calibre principal and we look forward to Eoin commencing and engaging with students and families towards building a wonderful school community in Limerick Educate Together Secondary School.”
As revealed by the Leader, Educate Together will open in temporary premises at the National Technology Park at Plassey this September, and will build up to 600 students in the coming years.
Local Senator Kieran O’Donnell said: “I am delighted they have a new principal now in place. This is an exciting time for any new school and I look forward to continuing to work with Limerick Educate Together Secondary School.”
It’s anticipated the school will move into permanent accommodation in either Monaleen or Castletroy by the end of the decade.
