Limerick fodder crisis meeting to take place to discuss shortage

A MEETING to help farmers through the fodder crisis has been organised for Monday, April 9.

Robert Holmes, a farmer in Kilteely, and Pat Blackwell, Teagasc, joined together to put on the event in Hayes’ function room, Cappamore at 8pm.

“The purpose of this meeting is to inform farmers of their options in relation to the fodder shortage,” said Robert.

There will be a couple of short presentations from Brian Ryan, Mulcair Veterinary Clinic; Pat Blackwell, Teagasc; Sean Ryan, Dairygold; Richard Ryan, GVM; and a representative from a bank.

“Following the presentations, farmers will have the opportunity to discuss their own situation – one to one - with the speakers and also representatives of other feed companies. Those that are currently sourcing fodder should be encouraged to attend.

“It is expected that farmers will be better able to deal with the difficult situation they are in by attending this meeting,” said Robert, who stresses that all farmers are welcome to attend.
