Young man dies following Charleville collision

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a young man died in a road accident in Charleville.

The 19-year-old died from injuries he sustained when the car he was driving hit a wall at Smiths Road in the town shortly after 11 o’clock last night.

Three passengers – two teenage girls and a teenage boy – were taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick (UHL) following the collision. Their conditions are not life-threatening.

The scene of the collision was examined by garda forensic collision investigators overnight and the road has since reopened to traffic.

The local coroner has been notified and investigations are underway to establish the circumstances of the collision.
