Clare County Council says the restrictions are likely to be lifted tomorrow
Members of the public are being advised that restrictions on swimming and bathing in the sea at Kilkee remain in place.
Clare County Council, on the advice of the HSE, issued the warning yesterday morning after elevated levels of microbiological contamination were recorded during routine sampling of the water.
The local authority says further tests were carried out today and that the preliminary test results indicate the event may be over.
Final confirmation of the end of the restriction will be considered following additional water testing tomorrow morning.
Monitoring is ongoing and efforts are underway to identify the source of the bacteria.
So far, there are no reports of any swimmers of bathers becoming unwell.
