Man dies following Limerick road crash

Fatal accident happened in early hours of this morning

INVESTIGATIONS are underway after a man died in a single vehicle road crash in County Limerick during the early hours of this morning.

The man, who was aged in his 50s, was the sole occupant of a car which left the road and hit a ditch in the townland of Garrynderk, Kilmallock at around 1.30am.

His body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem examination will be conducted olater today.

The R515 between Kilmallock and Charleville remains closed to facilitate a forensic examination of the scene – local diversions are in place.

Gardai at Charleville are investigating the circumstances of the collision and can be contacted at 06321770.
